Thank you for visiting Beak n Wings, Inc (BNW) a volunteer based 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization. We are located in Kansas City and have been helping parrots throughout the Kansas City area. We are the only licensed shelter exclusively for companion birds (mostly parrots) in the Kansas City area. Our goal is to take in homeless, unwanted, or abused parrots, "rehabilitate" them, and find them good, permanent, loving homes. BNW also strives to educate the community on the special needs of these wonderful pets. We promote good health, enriched lives, and loving homes for our feathered companions. Our members range from the novice, single or multi-pet owner to the experienced breeder of multiple species. If you have a bird question, there’s sure to be someone in the club who will be happy to help you.
To check for meeting times and locations, please go to the calendar.
We encourage you to explore our website to find out what we are all about.
I want to personally thank everyone who has shown up to our events to help support the adoption of the birds to forever homes. I know it's hard but many of you have stuck with it for a long time. Some of you have found different ways to help, such as Joe and Cheryl who set up a yearly golf tournament. We have many members who have opened up their homes for the birds surrendered to Beak n Wings, without them I don't think we could have helped as many birds.
People come to Beak n Wings so that they can learn to give better care to their birds or meet people with the same interests. Whatever your reason for joining, I hope Beak n Wings has helped you as much as your membership has helped Beak n Wings. I also want to thank everyone who has held or is holding a position within Beak n Wings. Each of you is good in their own way and without you we might not have this group to help our feathered, or human, friends.
I know that some members really don't understand how much all their hard work is appreciated or that they are even appreciated. I have been told I don't say thanks enough. I try, I say thanks in my many emails to our members. I will say it again. Thank you everyone who has chosen Beak n Wings as a place to help out, socialize, find education or to help birds in need. You are all GREAT. Thanks Dean Tyson
Looking for a very special bird? Check out Mickey along with all the birds we currently have up for adoption! We will be having on site adoptions of small birds at our Spring Bird Expo on Feb. 18, please see the calendar for details.
Beak n Wings has just over 100 birds therefore our rescue program is currently closed to new birds. Please check back to see when we have an opening. Beak n Wings is in need of foster homes, if you are interested click here for more information on how you can help. In order to properly socialize them, all of our foster birds are cared for in individual foster homes. We do not have a shelter building. Our birds may be visited by appointment only after an application has been filled out and a home visit made. They can also be seen at our public events, please check our calendar for details.
