Answer: It was founded 1999.

Question: What about paid employees and board members?
Answer: We have no paid employees.

Question: How was the rescue program founded?
Answer: As an educational pet bird club, we go out to meet the public. We take our own birds out to introduce the public to birds. We began to receive calls asking if they could give us their birds, so we began to take in unwanted or birds which people were no longer able to care for (we do not buy birds). We then became the only LICENSED shelter in the Kansas City area. #PS-292. Last year (2004) Beak n Wings, took in 124 birds. We have found homes for many of them.

Question: What becomes of the birds after their arrival at Beak n Wings?
Answer: Our birds are normal taken into the vets office and several test are ran on them as well as grooming. Some of the birds physically and/or emotionally handicapped. Upon arrive, we begin to work with the birds which have behavior problems. We try to tame each of them. We try and convert them to a better diet, getting them off A SEED DIET, giving them fresh fruits and veggies. All our birds at this time are in foster homes, as we have not gotten a building at this time. Adopters must pass a stringent qualification process and be willing to sign a legal document stating that they will never sell, breed, or give away birds. We adopt out only 50 miles out side of I-435.

Question: Is Beak n Wings, Inc., a kill or no kill shelter?
Answer: Beak n Wings, Inc is a NO KILL shelter. We do every thing we can to help each and every bird we take in.

We do look to the public for donations and contributions. We are also looking for sponsors. It takes a lot for our fosters to feed each of the birds healthy. We can sure use your help if you can find it in your heart to send us your donations.
Question: What does Beak n Wings, do with the money you get?
Answer: We put as much as we can towards the birds. We also put money into educating the public on exotic birds.

Samples: Bird food, which is hard for the club to pay for the food, unless we get some donated, (foster homes provide most of the food at this time) Vet cost, toys, etc...

We also have office supplies, we pay for booth space most of the time so that we may reach more people, monthly newsletter (printing and stamps), and much more.
