Beak n Wings, Inc.

Beak n Wings, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization dedicated to the health and welfare of exotic birds. We provide rescue, adoption, sanctuary and placement assistance for all exotic birds. We are the largest bird club in the Kansas City Metropolitan area with over 350 members. Beak n Wings began as an educational pet bird club, which has evolved into an Exotic Bird Rescue Group. We continue to educate as well as take in exotic birds which need a new forever home. Beak n Wings began in 1999, based in Johnson County covering all of the Kansas City Metro area, with branches in Nebraska; We have a new branch coming soon. We will take in birds from anywhere in the US. Some might need to be delivered.

Prairie  Village Festival - Beak n Wings will be at the PV Festival today July 04, 2009 - 9am-5pm - 75th and Mission Rd (south of Shawnee MissionEast High School) Come on down and see the PARROTS!

Petco - Beak n Wings will be at Petco today, (95th and Quiveria) July 05, 2009 from 10am-3pm. Come on out and see the PARROTS!

Board Meeting - Beak n Wings will be holding it's monthly FULL COMMITTEE Board meeting today July 06, 2009 -  starting around 6pm.

City Market - Beak n Wings will be at the downtown city market today July 11, 2009 7am-3pm - Come on down and check us out.

General Meeting - Beak n Wings will be holding our monthly general meeting today July 13, 2009 from 7pm-9pm at Petco, 95th and Quiveria Topic - ON SITE GROOMING.....
(wings, nails and beaks - $5.00 each per bird) OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.  Bring your birds we will groom them, there will be a vet on site.  (members this does NOT count towards your monthly meeting count)

Business Meeting - Beak n Wings will be holding our monthly business meeting today July 15, 2009 - 7pm-9pm (members, this meeting DOES count towards your monthly meeting count).

Petco - Beak n Wings will be at Petco today, (75th and Metcalf) July 19, 2009 from 10am-3pm. Come on out and see the PARROTS!

City Market - Beak n Wings will be at the downtown city market today July 25, 2009 7am-3pm - Come on down and check us out.

Duck Derby - Beak n Wings will be going to the Duck Derby in Omaha today - Beak n Wings has been invited to attend this event along with the Omaha Branch. We are looking for members to take the road trip.

Clean Up - Jul 18 8AM-noon BSA Clean-up Boy Scouts of America, 12401 Maple St., we help clean grounds for our free mtg space.

Food Bank - Beak  n Wings will be at the Food Bank Heartland of America Park Jul 25 8:30 set-up , downtown, 10AM-2P (all fosters must be there)
8,000 visitors last year, hope to double to 16,000 or more this year. They will provide us tree covered tables for the birds. (personal birds welcome) We need volunteers!!!

Workshop - Dean Tyson, Beak n Wings Founder and Executive Director, speaking on Basic Bird Care (in depth) along with Bernie Bradley, VP of Events, Speaking on Nutrition, Michele Barrier, VP of Rescue and Adoption, and Lori Colsten speaking on Cockatoos (all from Kansas City)will be here to give a workshop Aug 23 2PM. We will also be holding a grooming period. wings, nails, and beaks, $5.00 ea per bird, all proceeds go to Beak n Wings.

Beak n Wings is now coming to you to groom your bird (s). Wings, nails, and beaks $5.00 ea per bird. Check out the request form. Let's get your birds ready for a safe and healthy spring.

Beak n Wings' 9th annual Fall exotic bird expo will be September 19, 2009, from 9am-4:30pm. If you are interested in being an exhibitor at this event, please go to our Bird Expo page to read more and to download an application.

Beak n Wings has over 100 exotic birds in our rescue program and more coming all the time. We are looking to you for some help. We are in need of bird seed (parrot seed), toys of all sizes (mostly medium and large bird sizes), carriers (we use the same carriers as used for small cats and dogs with front loading door), baby wipes, paper towels, and cash if you can afford it.
