I hope everyone has had a great year. Our organization's year has been successful, thanks to all the wonderful volunteers and sponsors.
I wish to give special thanks to the people that have personally helped make Beak n Wings a reality. These generous people have volunteered, donated, dedicated their valuable time, and worked selflessly to help Beak n Wings realize its mission statement and our purpose.
This year we have celebrated our 8th year helping all companion bird people who wanted to learn more so that they could give their birds a better life. To date (September, 2007), we have 307 members and are still growing.
We have made many changes within our organization to better serve the public as well as our members. We have attended many new venues to promote our organization and to help find new forever homes for the birds we take in. Our rescue / adoption program has taken in over 100 birds this year; we continue to find new homes for them. Our process does take some time, but we do get to everyone as fast as we can. We thank everyone who wants to give a bird a second chance and a forever home. We could not do it without you.
A Beak n Wings member receives many benefits including our monthly newsletter, free classified advertising in the newsletter and on the website, as well as knowledge to guide you in providing your birds a better life. We still offer members ways of earning awards / certificates for the hard work they do. We know the birds some how appreciate all the help they get from us. One of the greatest benefits of being a member is the new friends you make and knowing that he or she belongs to a group that truly cares about one another.
I mentioned that we attend many venues to reach more "bird people." We have attended almost 370 hours this year in the public, talking to people, helping with their birds, as well as finding new forever homes for the birds we have. If you are not a member, this is the time to attend a meeting, program or event, meet other members and join our group!
If you are a member and have not attended a meeting or helped out at an event, this is your chance. We still have several more meetings and many more events planned. Come show your support. You do not have to be a member to attend our events or our meetings; they are always open to the public.
At our events, if you choose to attend, either call and let us know you wish to come and help and to check us out, or just show up to one of the events. You can find more about where we will be by going to our calendar page.
